Gumar Primary School fencing
Gumar small village located 20km km from Badhan district of Sanaag region. With a population of 150HHS, its economy depends on livestock rearing and small businesses activities like shops, stores and cafes. The livelihood of villagers depends on livestock and small scale shops and tea cafes. The people were affected by drought and covid-19 pandemic. The impact of the covid-19 also affected the residents of Gumar and surrounding villages as the selling price of their livestock products prices goes down. The community benefited number of Care implemented SomRep Restore project including rehabilitation of the school, supporting school uniforms, distribution of unconditional cash transfer for 80 vulnerable households, , built two rooms of guest house and meeting hall. They also established Village saving and loan associations and provided number of impacted training to village committees.
The people in Gumar village were highly appreciating the assistance they received from Care and SomRep Restore project. Despite the mentioned the above mentioned humanitarian support the people in the village lacks MCH, police station which is necessary for the development and stability of the environment. Through community contributions they managed to build four rooms of health post with their fencing wall.
Through joint consultation meeting with village stakeholders the community have chosen as a priority project to construct fence wall for the primary school. Students have no places to study and when they finish primary school they go to other cities for secondary learning where students cannot find places to eat and sleep so Gumar community chose to build fencing of the school which curb their educational. It has a population of 150HH and their only primary school has no latrines for the children and teachers to use. The safety and sustainability of the school is in doubt due to lack of fencing wall which protects the school from destruction and damage. Thus Gumar community are ready to take advantage of the project and conduct fundraising campaign to implement the priority community project. This small village and pastoralists which comes far places in times of spring and autumn seasons.
The village residents are highly requesting from the local communities, diaspora to support to get school fence. The fundraising committee started mobilizing the community to participate and contribute to the building of this school which is very important for this village and surrounding areas. Gumar village community and their diaspora are expected to raise $6,214 of contributions to cover the estimation cost of building school fence with allocated matching fund of $7,333 from Restore project. The villagers will also donate in-kind contributions such as materials like stone, cement, sand and labor force.

Shaqodoon and care with District administration supported Gumar community to establish the project committee of 7 members of fundraising committee from Business people, Youth, Women and religious man.
The Project will use the Bulshokaab platform to track the transactions of the bank accounts and contributions from community members and the diaspora. Through Bulshokaab, members of the public will be able to access these financial transactions by visiting www.Bulshokaab.com. Community contributions of $6,214 are expected to contribute by the residents of Gumar and its diaspora.
